Dyke March is an inclusive community consisting of, but not limited to, black dykes, brown dykes, Latinx, Trans, Two-Spirit, Pan, Bi, Poly, Non-Binary, Disabled, Sex worker, fat, poor, young and old dykes. Our vision is a grassroots effort to raise awareness and build a stronger community among Dykes and Dyke issues in the DMV. We believe Dyke is not a sexuality, but a political identity centered on solidarity in each other’s struggles and a belief that none of us are free until we all are.

The first Dyke March took place in Washington DC in 1993. After a hiatus from 2008-2018, we are thrilled to be back for Dyke March’s newest iteration on June 7, 2019.  Dyke Marches are community-driven, grassroots, and meant to bring together all who identify as dykes through marching as an act of visibility and protest. It is non-Pride affiliated, with no corporate sponsors, permits, or cops – our goal is to encourage activism within our community and center transwomxn, queer womxn, lesbians, and other dyke identities who are oft-marginalized by the mainstream LGBTQ movement.

We believe Dyke is not a sexuality, but a political identity centered on solidarity in each other’s struggles and a belief that none of us are free until we all are. Join us.
